96 degreeee-ees in the shaa-ee-aaade

Really hot, in the shaa-ee-aaade.

I want, some lemonaa-ee-aade.

That's what the song says. Really.
Well...
I actually made up the lemonade part.
But it should say that.

So. Anyways. I'm in San Sebastian, sitting in the common area of the hostel that the fam and I are staying in, and listening to Reggae radio--all reggae, all day. Except one of the last songs definitely wasn't reggae. But whatever. I can't change it. It's what they've left on. It's cool, though. But. So. They have internet. And I don't really have pictures 'cause I took like two 'cause my batteries are about out. I suppose I could put them on my computer and then the blog, but I can't really be bothered. Sorry. Maybe later.

We saw Pamplona yesterday, got some of the kids worn out from all the walking (I'm used to it), and took a bus today to Donosti. Tomorrow we'll head to Madrith.

Reggae 141--positive radio, for positive people.

It's fun having the family...there are moments when maybe we get a little stressed from being around each other so much, but those don't happen too often. It's really fun to see them, and when I picked them up from the airport I was like, wow, it's been half a year....I hugged everyone really hard, and mom was last, and we both started crying a little bit. I just had like, one tear, but Christiane and Robert were making fun of us. Which was fairly funny.

But, so, yeah...there's not really much to talk about. I just felt like posting something, since there's actually decent wifi connection, and comfortable seats, unlike A) when I'm at home or B) at the uni, in that order. I guess I might put up an old picture from when I was in Donosti in the fall. Or, actually, so I don't have to look for one, how's about one from Barthelona? Yeah, that's easier. Nice.

agur

Alright, I'm going to post the rest of my pictures from Barcelona. And then, after David and I go this weekend, I suppose that I might have more to eventually get up. But for now, here's the rest.

It costs a bit to get up close to Gaudi...
Cuesta un poco acercarse a Gaudi...

La Sagrada Familia (The Sacred Family). A few years ago, I learned about Art Nouveau, did a project on it, so on and so forth. Had no idea that a few years later I'd be standing in front of it. It was a pretty cool moment.

Sagrada familia (P.S. it was designed by Gaudi, the guy who did all the 'weird' architecture in the city)(hecho por Gaudi, el tio k hizo la arquitectura 'rara' de la ciudad)

I don't think there's any need to keep putting the same caption haha

Walking on Las Ramblas on Sunday (with a new friend from the hostel), we encountered a parade of Basque music, and these big-head things, called cabezolos (kab-eh-thol-os) (which just pretty much means big head)
More of the Cabezolos (mas Cabezolos)

the beach (la playa)

the word "playa" always makes me think of a pixies song....yo soy playero, pero no hay playa!
With that thought, I'll go ahead and publish this, and then head home to David, who is probably wondering why in the world I haven't come back from class yet.
Adieu, adieu, to you and you and....well, not you...
hah

agur,

un poco de barcelona

I’m currently in the middle of about a month’s worth of traveling. Right now I’m with (my little brother) David, writing on the train heading back towards Spain from Paris. Last weekend I was in Barcelona, with a group of mostly French friends who are also with me in Pamplona.

In front of (enfrente de) La Sagrada Familia

This weekend, David and I will head back to Barcelona, and then the fam gets to Spain on the 11th, to spend a day or so in the city, and then head towards San Sebastian, Madrid, and various places in the south.

On the way to Paris

It’s kind of funny to feel like I’m spending more time outside Pamplona than actually in it, especially when one takes into account the fact that most of the time I feel like I’m more or less stuck there. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great place to be, and I’m enjoying it very much…I just like getting a change, and feel like I should enjoy my time in Europe. So it’s nice to get a chance to travel a bit more—and now I think I’ll be ready for some relaxation after Easter!

So, I was thinking I’d write a bit about these two trips, and mostly put up some pictures (for now of Barcelona). Both places I’ve pretty much seen the basic things that tourists are supposed to hit up (Barcelona-las Ramblas, Sagrada familia; Paris-Tour Eiffel, la louvre, Notre Dame, Montmarte, Arc du Triomphe), and also had a chance to walk around a bit and get a feel for the cities, and some of their different neighborhoods.

Some AMAZING looking ice cream inside the market (Ann-So wasn’t the only one of us that stopped to gawk haha)

Lunch, anyone?

Almuerzo?

Want your picture drawn on Las Ramblas? There’s options of realistic AND caricature!! Totally beats Carowinds….

Christopher Columbus (I think?). He apparently discovered the new world just by climbing up a pole and looking out over the Mediterranean from Barcelona. Who knew it would be that easy?

Cristobol Colon (creo?).

The port in Barcelona (pretty, but not as much as Marseille)

Nice, classy outfit... (k ropa más 'classy')

A nice way to traverse the city

Eating on the beach

Comiendo en la playa

Having a wee coffee after the beach. If you ever go to Barcelona, take GOOD care of your stuff—people are professionals at stealing. One of my friends had her purse on the ground, under her chair, and some one snatched it when no one was paying attention. Some one ended up finding it, calling the hostel, and she got it the next day, which was wonderful, but we definitely spent several hours not knowing that, and worrying about her passport and credit card and so on.

But the coffee was nice (:

I'll put up pictures from the rest of the trip later, but want to go ahead and get this part online!

agur!
